Telangana: Hit-and-runs leave six deer dead in 5 months
Hyderabad: Six deers have died in the past five months near Anantagiri Hills due to road accidents. Forest authorities confirm that deers falling victims of hit-run accidents has become common with the stretch of road here passing through forest area which is prone to accidents and has no speed breakers or speed limit boards.
Anantagiri reserve forest is a famous tourist spot for Hyderabadis and is home to protected animals like deers, wild boars and many other exotic flora and fauna.
The district forest officer claims that the issue was raised during state level meeting and a solution was sought to avoid such accidents, there has been no action taken till date.
Earlier there were patrolling vehicles and bikes to check the traffic. Now the checks are on the main roads only. With the increase in the number of tourists in Anantagiri and Vikarabad area, traffic has become heavy and vehicles hitting deers while crossing the road is more common.
