Konankunte police arrest four people for kidnapping car driver

The Konankunte police have arrested four people in connection with the kidnap and robbery of a car driver that happened on March 10.

BENGALURU: The Konankunte police have arrested four people in connection with the kidnap and robbery of a car driver that happened on March 10.

According to the police, the arrested have been identified as Madhu Kiran, 32, Manjunath, 29, Anand, 26 and Narendra, 24, all residents of the city. The police recovered '2.30 lakh in cash, two gold chains, a finger ring and a car.

The police said that around 9 pm, the accused had abducted one Pratap, a resident of Bommanahalli, from Kothanuru Dinne.

They found Pratap coming out of an ATM and bundled him up into a car and sped away.

They threatened to kill him, if he tried to raise an alarm. They took Pratap to a resort in Mylasandra and locked him up.

They snatched away his mobile phone and '80,000 in cash. They even took away his debit card and forced him to give the pin number from which they withdrew another '95,000 in cash. They shopped gold ornaments and even swiped the card to withdraw '25,000 in cash. A total of '2.72 lakh was looted from Pratap.

They then released Pratap, but threatened him against informing anyone. Pratap approached the Konankunte police station and narrated his ordeal and registered a complaint.

The police added that Pratap also used to work as a videographer. He met Madhu Kiran, a real estate agent through his relative around a couple of months ago. They both became good friends and Madhu learnt that Pratap was earning well and decided to rob him.

Madhu along with his other friends planned the act and kidnapped Pratap. A senior police officer said, "We formed a team and got the mobile phone number of Madhu and started tracking him and found that he was near Hosakote and arrested all the four accused. They confessed to the crime and others were arrested based on the information provided by him. We also recovered the cash, gold ornaments, debit cards and vehicles, which was used for committing the crime."
