Hyderabad: A 41-year-old mother of six daughters approached the State Human Rights Commission seeking protection from land grabbers. Dasari Jaya said that in order to grab a piece of land owned by her father-in-law, her mother-in-law sought the help of the suspects.
She said they had assaulted her and threatened to kill her daughters. D. Jaya, who hails from Bellampalli, said that her husband had died in 2012. There was a dispute between her and her mother-in-law Tulasamma over two acres owned by her father-in-law Dasari Kotaiah who had died.
She said that when she went to the Bellampalli tahsildar office to get details of the land in February, one Pasula Suresh and Manoj Reddy assaulted her. She said she was injured, and her sari was torn.
“They abused me in vulgar language and threatened me mentioning my caste. They warned me to stay off the land and that they have kidnapped my children once, and that they will eliminate them next time,” she said.
Jaya also alleged that two others, Naveen and Srinadh, abused her and her daughters, pointing out her caste and threatened to rape and kill the girls. Jaya said she had filed a complaint at the Bellampalli I Town police station and a case was registered against the suspects for obscene acts, inflicting injuries, intimidation and under the SC&ST Prevention of Atrocities Act.
She said that under pressure from the suspects, revenue authorities had cancelled her caste certificate. Jaya said she had appealed to revenue authorities but they were delaying the probe.
She appealed to the SHRC to direct the revenue authorities to issue her caste certificate after checking records and justice for her family.
