Anantapur: Use of technology in robbery

Now dacoits made use of technology cutting off signals to stop the train and then attack passengers at a deserted place.

Anantapur: After repeated dacoit gangs attacking trains targeting reserved compartments, lack of adequate safety measures has created panic among people.

The situation appears more at Adoni, Gooty and Raichur areas in South Central jurisdiction. Sunday's attempt to loot the S5 and S6 bogies of Hubli-Mysore Express train near Garladinne, about 15 km from Anantapur headquarters, has worsened the situation.

At least four incidents were reported since one year as robbers' gang attacked the passengers who were in deep sleep. But, now dacoits made use of technology cutting off signals to stop the train and then attack passengers at a deserted place. The robbers have used this method for the first time but apparently it was a well thought of method.

Police alerted railway authorities to concentrate on tight security measures to curb repeated robberies. CPI district secretary Jagadish demanded provision of additional security in all bogies and trains especially in vulnerable deserted places.
