Kerala: Child Welfare Committee completes probe on students' torture
ALAPPUZHA : Child Welfare Committee (CWC) has completed a months-long probe into alleged torture of students at Leo XIII Higher Secondary School for late coming after Friday namaz. K. Marykutty, the CWC chairperson (in-charge), said he would send a final report along with recommendations to the school authorities and concerned parties soon. However, he refused to divulge details.
The investigation was initiated after the complaint of eight children on November 6 that headmaster Xavier Kutty had put the stick inside their trouser and squeezed their belly. When cried for water, he allegedly asked a boy to drink the urine of another; and they were kept out for several days. The CWC had taken a detailed statement of teachers, headmaster, all the eight complainants and their parents and a shopkeeper on the campus who helped them.
