KARIMNAGAR: Karimnagar in-charge DIG B. Malla Reddy ordered an inquiry into the sexual assault on a Dalit girl by three youths on a hillock near Kachapur village in three weeks back. One of the accused was arrested on Saturday.
Three youths raped the 23-year old girl, a B.Tech student, after taking her to a hillock near the village, on February 10. One of the youths filmed the assault while the other two were outraging her modesty.
Later, the trio was thrashed by relatives of the girl on February 24 for harassing her by threatening to upload the video on Youtube. Two of them are undergoing treatment at a private hospital as they sustained injuries in teh assault.
Huzurabad DSP M. Ravinder Reddy said that the accused were Gotte Srinivas, a resident of Amudalapalli, Moddam Rakesh and Moddam Anji from Kaluwala. Srinivas has completed B.Tech, while the two are pursuing degree first year at a college in Jammikunta.
The girl is a native of Challur village in Veenavanka mandal. Police said that she was a friend of Srinivas. She came into contact with Rakesh and Anji at a coaching centre run by Venavanka police.
The three were booked under SC, ST Prevention of Atrocities Act, 1989, the IT Act 2008 and Section 376 of IPC for their role in the assault on the girl. “Investigations are going on.
Rakesh was arrested and the duo would be detained as soon as they are discharged from MGM Hospital of Warangal. The girl underwent medical examinations twice. Her medical condition is stable,” explained Mr. Reddy.
On the day of the assault, Srinivas, Rajesh and Anji took the girl to a hillock to rape her under the pretext of chitchatting.
Rakesh started filming when the other two were sexually assaulting her. They did not leave her even though she pleaded with them addressing them as brothers.
Police said that all the three raped her and later dumped her on the outskirts of the village. Rakesh started constantly harassing her by threatening to post the video on You Tube. Unable to bear this torture, she revealed her ordeal to her parents.
The parents and relatives called the trio to their residence and thrashed them on February 24 evening. The incident came to light on February 25.
