Servant jumps into lake
A man who was working at an Army officer’s house “jumped” into the Kapra lake allegedly under the influence of alcohol on Friday night.

The man. Siddulu, 35, left home after a quarrel with his wife, consumed alcohol and later jumped into the lake, police said Saturday evening, adding they were trying to recover the body from the water.

G. Siddulu and his wife Kavitha were working as servants at the Army officer’s house in Sainikpuri. The two, along with their two children, lived in a room at their workplace.

“Siddulu often quarrelled with his wife demanding money for alcohol. On Friday, after a tiff with Kavitha, he took '500 from her and went to a wine shop in Kapra. Fully drunk, he walked to the Kapra lake and jumped into the water. He reached the middle of the lake and drowned,” SI, M. Ravi said.

"He was a good swimmer, but could not swim for long as he was under the effect of alcohol," the SI said. Passersby who saw him drowning in the lake alerted the police, who immediately started an operation to save him or recover the body.

"It's close to 24 hours since he drowned but the body did not come up. We are working with expert swimmers to recover the body," the SI said.
