Hyderabad: Swift action of the Bahadurpura crime team resulted in the arrest of a mother-daughter duo who had kidnapped an 18-month-old girl at Kishanbagh Park, reuniting the victim with her family within five hours of the incident.
Bahadurpura police formed three teams after receiving the complaint from the girl’s parents, verified the footage of 100 CCTV cameras and tracked the autorickshaw in which the kidnappers were travelling towards Nawab Saheb Kunta.
The police intercepted the autorickshaw at Tadbund crossroads and arrested the women.
The accused were identified as Naseem Begum, 62, of Kishanbagh and Ayesha Begum, 32, of Falaknuma. The girl and her mother were sleeping in the park when the duo abducted her.
Ayesha Begum had no children of her own, said south zone DCP P. Sai Chaitanya. The accused were produced before a court.
