ACB catches two revenue officials while taking bribe

Kakinada: Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) sleuths led by additional superintendent of police Ch. Sowjanya caught a deputy tahsildar Madaka Srinivasa Rao of Kirlampudi mandal and village revenue officer Y. Lakshmi Devi of Palem village secretariat in Burugupudi area on Monday.

ACB said Buddha Adinarayana, a farmer of Palem village, had applied for mutation of his ancestral property spread over 1.38 acres. For this, deputy tahsildar Srinivas demanded a bribe of ₹23,000 through Palem VRO Lakshmi Devi.

Following a complaint, ACB laid a trap and caught the VRO red-handed while collecting ₹23,000 from Adinarayana at the Palm secretariat. They subsequently took the deputy tahsildar into their custody based on evidence.

ACB inspectors D. Vasu Krishna, Y. Satish, B. Srinivasa Rao, S. Wilson were present during the raids.
