Hyderabad: Man murders stepmother, stepbrother

Agitated by the rejection, Mohan came back to the city and plotted to kill the other family.

Hyderabad: A woman and her son were found stabbed to death at their residence at Puranapul in Kulsumpura on Monday. The victims were identified as Sabhapathi Varneshwari, 50, wife of Sabhapathi Sunder Raju, and his son Sabhapathi Nataraj, 23, who are both daily wage labourers, police said.

Varneshwari was Raju’s second wife and he is still married to her sister, Jagadeshwari. He has three sons and a daughter with his first wife, said Kulsumpura police inspector, P. Shankar.

“About 20 days ago, Mohan, the second son from Raju’s first wife, went to Chennai to talk to the girl’s family he was about to marry. The family, however, denied his proposal to marry her, citing that they did not approve of his father having two families and asked him to leave,” the official said.

Agitated by the rejection, Mohan came back to the city and plotted to kill the other family. He murdered them by stabbing them at their residence,” added the official. He also mentioned that Mohan fled after the offence and is reportedly absconding.

Based on a complaint, a case was booked under section 302 (murder) of IPC and the bodies were shifted for postmortem examination.
