Chennai: Police on Sunday arrested a 21-year-old man and have launched a hunt for another in connection with charges made by a 17-year-old girl, a first year college student from the City, who claimed that she was raped by the duo for four years.
The girl was acquainted with one of the suspects, Moni (21), through facebook when she was 13 years old. Subsequently, they started seeing each other and had clicked pictures together. The man had threatened the gullible girl that he would upload pictures of them together in facebook and forced her to come with him to a lodge in Periamet.
Police said that Moni took the girl to a lodge and raped her. He also videographed the incident and used it to threaten the girl to repeat the act. Over a period of time, he started taking money from the girl saying he would upload the video if she didn't give in to his demands.
Meanwhile, last year, Moni forced the girl to give sexual favours to his friend, Ravinder Sharma threatening her that he would release the video. According to a complaint by the girl, the other man too took videos of the act and threatened her. Further, the girl also alleged that she became pregnant and the duo gave her pills to abort.
Very recently, the duo had extorted about Rs.1.5 lakh from the girl with the same threats after which she found their residential address and approached the parents of one of the suspects. She was reportedly told that Ravinder Sharma had got married on November 10 and asked her to leave the place.
Following this, the girl filed a complaint with the Vepery All Women's Police Station who registered a case and arrested one of the suspects, G Ravinder Sharma (21) of Vyasarpadi. Hunt is on for his accomplice Moni who was not found at his residence in Sowcarpet, police said.
