Bengaluru: Wife elopes, man kills friend suspecting help
Bengaluru: Suspecting that a friend had helped his wife elope with another friend, a 35-year-old man murdered a factory worker. The incident took place at Gollahalli in Hebbagodi police limits on Saturday night.
The deceased, Guddappa, 29, worked as a labourer in a factory. The accused has been identified as Girish, who runs a ration shop. Both the deceased and the accused were residents of Gollahalli.
According to the police, Girish, who hails from Davangere, is a habitual drunkard and his wife was getting him treated at a rehabilitation centre. Girish's friend Jagadish was helping her and every day, they took Girish for treatment. Soon, Jagadish and Girish's wife developed an illicit relationship and they eloped recently. Girish had slipped into a depression after the incident.
"As Guddappa, who hailed from Haveri, was close to Jagadish, Girish assumed that Guddappa knew about his wife's illicit relationship with Jagadish and he had helped them elope. On Saturday night, Girish and his two friends took Guddappa to a place, where they all consumed liquor. After Guddappa got drunk, Girish asked him about the whereabouts of his wife and Jagadish. As Guddappa told him he had no idea about their relationship and where they were, Jagadish lost his temper and attacked him. Jagadish and his two friends assaulted and stabbed Guddappa to death before escaping from the scene," the police said.
"After we came to know about the incident, we rushed to the spot and gathered information about the accused. Within a few hours, all the three were detained. Preliminary inquiry revealed that Girish got married about eight years ago and has two children. As he was a habitual drinker, his wife was fed up with him. A few years ago, she had eloped with some other man, but had returned home within 15 days. Now, again she has eloped with Jagadish. We are questioned the three accused detained about the case," the police said.
