Anekal gang rape: No leads on six accused
BENGALURU: Following the gangrape on a 28-year-old destitute woman, the Anekal police have intensified the manhunt to nab the six men who committed the offence on Thursday night. Sources, however, said that there were no major leads about the accused so far.
As part of the probe, the police summoned the owner of the building, where the alleged incident took place, and questioned him on Sunday. "He lives in a different area and he was summoned for questioning. He told us that he had not given the building for rent or lease to anyone and had no idea about random people going in and out. We told him to not leave the building without proper security," an official said.
Meanwhile, the police are trying to get clues about the accused by verifying footage from various CCTV cameras in the locality. "The place where the incident took place has no CCTV camera and even the surrounding areas do not have considerable numbers of such cameras. But we are analysing footage recorded by some cameras in the surrounding areas," the official said.
The police have also questioned several anti-social elements in the locality as part of the investigation.
