Karimnagar police seizes 12 tonnes of African catfish
The police stopped the vehicles at Kothapalli bypass road and seized the vehicle with catfish.

ADILABAD: Karimnagar taskforce police on Friday seized 12 tonnes of African catfish being shifted illegally in two lorries to Lucknow from Obilishettipalem, Prakasham district of Andhra Pradesh.
Police arrested seven persons in connection to the illegal transportation of the catfish. The police stopped the vehicles at Kothapalli bypass road and seized the vehicle with catfish.
According to Taskforce ACP Shoban Babu, the catfish are worth Rs 12 lakh and United Andhra Pradesh government had banned the sale of catfish in 1995.
The accused are Subrahmanyam, Sheshagiri, Chankravarthy, Pandu, Sai of Chakai village in Kikaluru mandal of Krishna district and Ramanjaneyulu of Devapudi village in Mudinepalli mandal and Eleti Ramakirshna of Gudivadalanka of Eluru mandal in West Godavari district.
Task Force inspector S.Srinivas Rao, SIs Ramesh Swaroop Raj, and other police staff were part of the team that seized the catch fish.
