Chennai: Two attempts to murder cases were reported in the city on Thursday night. According to the police, an 18-year-old boy who was waiting to seek revenge for his brother’s death six months ago stabbed a man, who came out of prison at Koyambedu.

On May 2018, the 17-year-old boy was travelling with his friend Ganesh (20) and stabbed him on his stomach and jumped off the two-wheeler leaving Ganesh head hit the median and died on the spot.

Though the police suspected it to be an accident, later it was found that the boy had murdered Ganesh since both fell in love for the same girl. The boy returned home on 1 October after five months. On Thursday, the 17-year-old was drinking at the ground near his house at Mettukulam in Koyambedu. At around 8 pm, five men charged at him and stabbed on his face, hand, shoulder and legs,” said a police officer.

The five men left him on the pool of blood and escaped. Preliminary investigations revealed that Ganesh’s younger brother Prakash (18) had sought revenge and planned to murder the boy. The Koyambedu police arrested S Prakash (22), M Mohan (25), S Arockiyam (22), R Sarathi (23) and R Ajith (23). The five men remanded under judicial custody

In another incident,  Rajesh (34) a resident of Kannagi Nagar was arrested by the police three months ago in a theft case.  Police said, Rajesh’s wife Saranya did not visit him in the prison and did not take any effort to take him out on bail. Angered by this and suspecting Saranya to be in an illicit relationship, Rajesh sought revenge. On Thursday he walked out of jail and with his friends planned to murder Saranya.

On Thursday evening at around 5.30pm, Rajesh had picked up Saranya in an auto rickshaw from Kannagi Nagar and told her that they are going to visit a temple in Thiruvanmiyur. While they were at the Sivasundar Avenue, at Thiruvanmiyur four men stabbed her on the head and fled the spot.

The police arrested one Parthasarathy (23) instantly and the search for Rajesh and others are on. Preliminary enquiries revealed that Rajesh had planned the assault to murder his wife. The Thiruvanmiyur police registered a case and further investigations are on.
