Chennai: 47-year-old man arrested for cheating

Even after a year since Yunus did not return the vehicle and when contacted had allegedly threatened Abdul not to call him anymore.

Chennai: A 47-year-old man from Bengaluru was arrested on Thursday for cheating a businessman on a purchase of Rs 25 lakh worth hydraulic excavator.

Police said Abdul Razak (52) a resident of St Thomas Mount owns Leela equipment and spare parts shop in the locality.

According to sources, a year ago Abdul had come in contact with Yunus Batcha (47) from Bengaluru who had told Abdul that he would help him in purchasing hydraulic excavators. After going through the paperwork, Abdul had transferred Rs 25 lakh to Yunus, who promised to provide the vehicle within two weeks.

Even after a year since Yunus did not return the vehicle and when contacted had allegedly threatened Abdul not to call him anymore.

He also threatened to kill Abdul Razak.Realizing that he was cheated, Abdul on Monday lodged a complaint at the St Thomas Mount police station.

A special police team tracked down Yunus landing in Chennai on Thursday and arrested him. Primary investigations revealed that Yunus has so many cheating cases against him with Bengaluru and Kanpur police. Yunus was arrested on charges of cheating and criminal intimidation.
