Bengaluru: Tension prevailed at a Lingayat math near Hunasamaranahalli in Yelahanka, after the video in which the seer’s son was seen indulging in a sexual act with a woman was released to the media. It is alleged that several issues led to the release of the video, which is said to have been shot about two years ago.
Dayananda Swami, son of Maddevanapura Math seer Parvatharaja Shivacharya Swami, is the one who was seen in the video. After the video was telecast in news channels, hundreds of devotees of the Math gathered at the Math premises. They demanded that the seer’s family should be thrown out of the Math, accusing them of desecrating the Math and hurting the religious sentiments of the devotees.
The Chikkajala police rushed to the Math and controlled the situation. Dayananda Swami is said to be absconding after the video was telecast in news channels. The devotees continued their protest till late in the night, demanding the arrest of Dayananda Swami. The agitators alleged that the seer’s family was trying to misuse the math and trying to sell its properties for personal gain. The police, however, said that no arrest can be made as there is no complaint.
