Tirupati: A middle-aged man lost his life after he accidentally slipped into a drainage canal near the government hospital in Srikalahasti on the intervening night of Monday and Tuesday. The deceased has been identified as Challa Reddy, a native of Srikalahasti mandal.
According to information, Challa Reddy and his wife went to the local government hospital as attendants for their daughter, who had undergone surgery. Hospital authorities reportedly refused to permit Challa Reddy to stay overnight. Left with no alternative, he decided to rest outside the hospital premises.
Challa Reddy ended up sleeping on the bund wall of a drainage canal. In deep sleep, he turned and fell into the drainage canal. The body of Challa Reddy was found in the canal on Tuesday morning.
Police have registered a case. They have shifted the body for post-mortem examination.
