Hyderabad: 13 students escape as truck hits autorickshaw

The auto had moved from an arterial road to the highway and was about five minutes from Model School.

Hyderabad: Nine of 13 children travelling in an autorickshaw to school sustained injuries of whom three were serious and one little girl was critical, after their vehicle was rammed by a sand-laden truck on Wednesday at around 8.45 am on the Vijayawada-Hyderabad national highway.

The autorickshaw had moved from an arterial road to the highway and was about five minutes from Model School in Chintapally when the mishap occurred.

The police named Anjali,Spandana, Sravavani and Sirisha as having sustained severe injuries. The children were immediately shifted to a hospital in Hyderabad. Lavanya, B. Akhila, G.Pavan,V.Shalini and Manisha escaped with minor injuries.

Speaking to this newspaper, Sub-Inspector of police Shankar Reddy said, “All the children who escaped with minor injuries are out of danger. One child named Anjali was in critical condition.”

The police has registered a case against the auto driver, P. Yadaiah, under section 337 (Causing hurt by act endangering life or personal safety of others) IPC and 338 (Causing grievous hurt by act endangering life or personal safety of others) IPC added Reddy
