Bengaluru: A 30-year-old man was arrested by the Halasur police after he allegedly molested a 21-year-old girl at a pub in Domlur. The accused is also alleged to have assaulted the victim’s friend, who questioned him for misbehaviour.
The accused has been identified as, Manish, said to be CEO of a startup. The alleged incident took place when the victim had gone to the pub with her friends on Wednesday night.
According to the police, the girl along with a group of friends had gone to Love Shack pub at Amarajyothi Layout in Domlur. Around 1.30 am on Thursday, the accused, who was in an inebriated state, misbehaved with the girl and also touched her private parts. When the girl and her friends objected, the accused allegedly assaulted her 20-year-old male friend.
“The male friend filed a complaint in the morning. Based on that the accused was traced and nabbed. He has been booked on charges of outraging the modesty of a woman and Section 509 (word, gesture or act intended to insult the modesty of a woman) of the IPC,” the police added.
Techie held on rape charges
In another case, a software engineer was arrested by the Halasur police on charges of rape and cheating his colleague after he promising to marry her.
The accused has been identified as Manoj Gowda, a resident of Udani Layout on Cambridge Road in Halasur.
According to the police, both the accused and the victim worked at a reputed MNC on Bannerghatta Road. The woman has alleged that in the first week of March, Gowda told her that he wanted to speak to her and took her in his car.
Near his house in Halasur, he allegedly raped her in the car. Later, he promised her that he would marry her and had physical relationship with her, concealing from her the fact that he was already married.
Based on the complaint filed by the woman on Sunday, the accused has been arrested, the police added.
