BENGALURU: A 50-year-old habitual drunkard was bludgeoned to death by his son, who was enraged after his father beat up his mother. The 23-year-old man later surrendered before the police.
The deceased has been identified as Rajanna, while his son as Harish, an electrician. The family lived in a rented house in Laggere.
Rajanna and his wife Nagamma were pushcart vendors. Rajanna came home drunk every day and picked up quarrels with his wife. Even on Sunday night, Rajanna after coming home demanded money from his wife to buy liquor. When she refused, he allegedly assaulted her and locked her up in the bathroom. Harish, who came home a little later, let out his mother and took his father to task.
“But Rajanna attacked Harish and Nagamma with a stone. She started bleeding and Rajanna slept. Harish gave her first-aid but as the bleeding did not stop, he decided to take her to a hospital. But his father was sleeping soundly and was not trying to help his mother. An angry Harish took a boulder and smashed his father’s head,” the police said.
