Rape case probe in final stages: Investigation officer

She, however, refused to divulge the results of the test to DC.

Thrissur: The probe into Wadakkanchery gang rape case is in the final stages, Palakkad ASP G Poonguzhali, the investigation officer, has said. A CPM councillor, his brother and two others were accused of gang raping the wife of their friend in the case.

The officer said the polygraph test of the four was conducted at the forensic lab at Kerala Police Academy and the report handed over to the Wadakkanchery magistrate court in a sealed cover.

She, however, refused to divulge the results of the test to DC. Meanwhile, C.R. Jaison, the lawyer of the victim, said the investigation was a farce, and most probably the special investigation team would report that there was no evidence to corroborate the crime.

“The SIT did not do justice to the victim, and it was not keen on building a case on her statement on the alleged gang rape in 2014 inside a building near Thiruvullakkavu Temple in Thrissur," he told DC.

“The victim could not identify the exact building as she was new to that place. But there were clues like the building was under construction and was being built by one of the accused. No details were collected from the panchayat about such a building.”

Similarly, details of the vehicle in which the victim was taken to Thiruvullakkavu was before the SIT, but they did not conduct any inquiry to collect evidence, the lawyer alleged.

The victim who was living near Athani narrated her plight in November 2016 at a press meet at the Thiruvananthapuram Press Club with dubbing artist and activist Bhagyalakshmi and actor Mala Parvathy.
