Hyderabad: Drunk man crashes BMW, flees from scene

After the accident at Banjara Hills the driver and the woman removed the number plates of the car and fled the scene.

Hyderabad: A BMW car driven by a drunk man went out of control in Banjara Hills and ran over the footpath near Basavatarakam Indo American Cancer Hospital in the early hours of Saturday. The driver and another woman, jumped out of the car and after removing the number plates, fled from the scene.
Police later arrested the driver and the car owner. They were identified as B. Magesh, 19, the driver, and Nitinesh, 27, the car owner. Both are in the real estate business. Police suspects that the woman in the car was a television anchor.

Police said that Magesh, a business management student, entered the real estate business a few months ago. On Friday night he attended a get together organised by his friends in Kondapur. During the party he consumed beer. After that, he and an unidentified woman, started back in a BMW car (AP 12K 4444). When they reached the hospital area, Magesh lost control and the car ran over the footpath and came to a halt.

Police initially registered a case of vehicle damage. Later, they traced the owner of the vehicle and the driver.

The car belonging to the BMW 7 series is owned by one Nitinesh. He had given his car to his friend Magesh to drop the woman as it was late in the night. Magesh was subjected to a breath analyzer test and it recorded 33 mgdl. Police arrested the two.

“The identity of the woman is not known. We are checking her details,” Banjara Hills inspector K. Srinivas said.

The car was initially owned by Nagarjuna Constructions Company (NCC) Limited, but two years ago Nitinesh purchased it from them, but as per the records, the car is still in the name of NCC.
