Chennai: Following the detaining of arrested film financier, S Mukanchand Bothra under the Goondas Act about a month ago, city police on Saturday recommended his son, Gagan Bothra too to be detained under the Goondas act.
Bothra and his two sons were arrested by the Central Crime Branch on charges of extortion after they were found collecting exorbitant interest rates for the loans they gave to public.
Chennai police commissioner A.K. Viswanathan approved the papers to detain Gagan Bothra under the Goondas Act, in which he would be detained in prison for a year. However, Gagan can seek the advisory board against the detention within three months of his detention. Gagan has been serving term at the sub-jain in Poonamallee.
