2 kg gold, diamond jewellery stolen from Kukatpally villa

The family members who were sleeping in the other rooms in the house realised that a theft had occurred only after waking up in the morning.

Hyderabad: Around 2 kg gold and some diamond jewellery was burgled from a villa at Vivekanandanagar in Kukatpally in the early hours of Friday. The police found that two persons had gained entry into the house.

According to Kukatpally police, the villa belongs to former TRS leader G. Padma Rao. At about 3.40 am on Friday, two unidentified persons were reported to have entered the house by opening the main door through a window.

According to a complaint lodged with the police, the duo entered the room where around 2 kg of gold ornaments and diamond jewellery were kept in an almirah. They opened the almirah, took out the ornaments and made away with them.

The family members who were sleeping in the other rooms in the house realised that a theft had occurred only after waking up in the morning. They immediately alerted the police.

The house has CCTV cameras. The footage of the cameras showed the two persons entering the house. Kukatpally police registered a case and formed teams which are on the clues picked up at the site to nab the suspects, said the police.

“It looks like the theft is the handiwork of a habitual offender. There are at least eight rooms in the villa and the inmates did not hear anything when the theft took place. We are working on the clues,” said an official who is associated with the probe. Police is also checking how the duo headed to the almirah and managed to open it.
