Hyderabad: The Special Task Force of the Enforcement wing of the Prohibition and Excise department arrested a Dutch national on Tuesday night in the ongoing drugs case and produced him in court on Wednesday.
Director of Enforcement, Akun Sabharwal, said that the arrest of 33-year-old Mike Kamminga was important for the ongoing investigation. “We nabbed him last night and are investigating his network in the city,” he said.
A source said Mr Kamminga got the drugs from neighbouring states such as Goa and sold them in the city. He had customers in Gachibowli, Hitech City and IT hub in Uppal.
Mr Kamminga, who has a good position in a multinational company, visited India four times on his Netherlands passport and on a valid visa. “He has a high-end lifestyle and travels business class. He married an Indian girl, Mary Shilpa, and they have a son. The couple along with his relatives are settled in Hyderabad,” the source said. why does he ‘visit’ india if he is settled here? Mr Kamminga’s mobile phone and call data records are being investigated. SIT officers say the help of forensic experts is required to analyse the call data and they believe the details will reveal links to the IT sector.
Kamminga has deep links with Tollywood
The Dutch national Mike Kamminga who was arrested in the drug scam has deep connections with Tollywood.
His company 84 Ideas Webtech Indian Private Limited Works for social media and digital strategies for Telugu films and other companies. Kamminga and his team worked with S.S. Rajamouli’s Eega as social engagement strategist. He does projects for several IT companies.
Kammianga is one of the directors of 84Ideas with the office located in West Marredpally.
Kamminga is said to have over 12 years of experience spanning product development, technology sales, (digital) strategy, (tech) team building and (offshore) business operations. The company 84 Ideas was incorporated in 2010. Kamminga has worked in different countries.
