Three Andhra Pradesh doctors debarred for being involved in unethical acts
Hyderabad: Three doctors from AP have been debarred for one year by the AP Medical Council as they engaged in unethical acts.
The doctors revealed the sex of a foetus, sexually harassed PG medical students and an orthopaedic surgeon who performed a neurosurgery, left the patient bed-ridden.
Dr L.R.G. Prasad of Machlipatnam revealed the sex of a foetus when it is not allowed under the Pre-Conception and Pre-Natal Diagnostic Techniues Act. It was found that Dr Prasad has a diploma degree in radiology which is not valid. The council asked him to display only his MBBS degree.
The Council found Dr Jonnalagadda Balachandradu, 56, guilty of sexual harassment of 12 PG students. In 2015, the APMC had debarred Dr Balachandradu for two years but he had approached the HC and challenged the order.
“The sentence was reduced from two to one year as the doctor said that he was the only earner in his family.’’
Dr A. Suryanarayana, an orthopaedic surgeon, conducted neurosurgery on one M. Srinivas Rao. His wife, Ms Anuradha, filed a complaint asd her husband got crippled. The council fined the hospital Rs 3 lakh and the doctor was debarred from practice.
Dr Suryanarayana has been warned that he must only practice what he has learnt and not venture into other streams.
