The second-year micro-biology student  committed suicide  by hanging herself from  the windows of the bathroom on July 22.  “It was after talking to the classmates of Ashnaz that we got the details of  the case and the accused surrendered in the station,” said the CI. Ashnaz was insulted before her collegemates and made to say sorry to her seniors at  several occasions.

The reason was that she   had asked the name of one her seniors  thinking that she was a first-year student.     The senior girl with the help of her other five classmates  humiliated  Ashnaz  who had already shown signs of depression,  the CI  said.  The accused were charged with offences  under Ragging Prevention Act 2009 and IPC 306 abetment of suicide.
