The murder of Srinivasa, a close aide of APSRTC chairman Mallikarjuna Reddy, took place three days ago in broad daylight. The assailants had disputes with the victim in the real estate business and the murder was not linked to politics, Kadapa SP K.K.N. Anburajan said on Monday.

In the deal, Srinivasa was to pay ₹80 lakh to Prathap and ₹60 lakh to another partner Meruva Srinivasulu.

However, Srinivasa Reddy delayed the payment, Prathap, who was used by Srinivasa as a benami in the transactions, got agitated. Prathap hatched a plan along with Srinivasulu and some others to eliminate Srinivasa.

Prathap Reddy and Suresh alias Francis wore burqas and rode a scooter and reached the fitness centre where Srinivasa Reddy comes every morning. When he came out from the fitness centre and started his bullet vehicle, Koneru Venkata Subbaiah drove his scooter in and waylaid him. Prathap Reddy and Fransis attacked him with hunting sickles and sharp knives. Srinivasa Reddy collapsed on the spot. Soon after the attack, the duo along with another accused Haribabau fled from the spot.

While fleeing from the scene, they left the burqas and sickles near the spot.
