Chennai: 350 kg of ganja recovered from an abandoned vehicle

Chennai: In a major seizure, police on Wednesday recovered 350 kg of ganja from an abandoned van parked near Jothi theatre in Guindy under St Thomas Mount police station limits. Police said that the van parked outside the theatre for more than three days was impounded on Tuesday night.

Police received a tip-off that a van has been parked near Kathipara bridge St Thomas Mount police on Tuesday swing into action and took the vehicle into custody. On Tuesday night two men claimed that the van belonged to their associate However,  they did not submit proper documents.

 

Meanwhile, in the wee hours of Wednesday, based on another tip-off, the police searched the van and recovered 150 parcels, containing a total of 350 kg of ganja worth several lakhs.

The St Thomas Mount police registered a case and took the two men who claimed the vehicle into custody. Further investigations are on.
