Bengaluru: Rowdy in jail orchestrates kidnapping of contractor

Following the arrest, the police learnt that they were working for rowdy Natraj, currently in Parappana Agrahara Central prison.

BENGALURU: A gang of four kidnapers who had abducted a civil contractor and extorted Rs 2.5 lakh in April this year have been arrested by K.P. Agrahara police.

Following the arrest, the police learnt that they were working for rowdy Natraj, currently in Parappana Agrahara Central prison. He had reportedly instructed them from inside the jail to carry out the crime.

The accused have been identified as Karthik, Manjunath, Naveen and Suresh. They had abducted civil contractor Kantharaj after calling him to a place under the pretext of entrusting him construction work.

The police caught the accused after they received information about them bragging about their exploits at a local bar few days ago.

Following instructions from Natraj, the accused abducted and tortured Kantharaj for two days and released him after getting the ransom amount.

Kantharaj did not file any complaint fearing threat to his life and of his family members.

Natraj, a rowdy-sheeter in KP Agrahara police station, has 27 criminal cases against him. Currently in judicial custody, he would identify a target, call his associates and provide instruction to carry out criminal activities.

The police have now taken Nataraj into custody from the central prison to investigate whether he was involved in other cases.
