Kerala rape and murder case: Suspect to undergo polygraph test
Kochi: The Special Investigation Team probing the Perumbavur murder case would subject prime suspect Ameerul Islam to polygraph test after he constantly changed his statements during interrogation. Though the lie detection test wouldn’t stand before a court of law, the cops hope it would help them get answers to crucial missing pieces as to the murder motive, the weapons used and the role of a second person.
“Ameerul is constantly changing his versions. Earlier he said he threw away the weapon near Iringolkavu but now he’s saying he had taken it back to his native village in Assam while escaping. His version of motive for the crime was found to be untrue. Also while he initially admitted to have done the crime alone, now he claims that he was joined by his friend Anarul, who is absconding,” sources said.
The investigation team is planning to move the application for the test within a week after a team currently in Assam in search of the murder weapon and Ameerul’s friend returns. The cops now suspect that the accused have received a third person’s help in destruction of evidence after the crime. Earlier Ameerul had admitted during interrogation that he had a drinking session with his friend on April 28, when the Dalit girl was brutally murdered at her house in Vattolipaddi.
