Hyderabad: Advocate's burnt body found in his charred car

Uday's family said the car belonged to them, but the clothes at the spot were not his.

Hyderabad: The completely burnt body of an unidentified man was found in a charred car in Keesara on Sunday. Based on the car’s registration, the police suspect the person is Avula Uday Kumar, an advocate of Medchal court. Uday Kumar who left home on Saturday did not return.

His phone was off, when his family tried to contact him. Uday’s family said the car belonged to them, but the clothes at the spot were not his. After a spot autopsy, police seized the femur for DNA typing.

Police said that A. Uday Kumar, 41, was a resident of AS Rao Nagar and is married to Jagadishwari, a lecturer. On Saturday morning, Uday dropped her at a bus stop near their home and left saying that he had some work at the bank and would return home after that. But he did not return and when his wife called him, his mobile was off. The whole night they searched for him.

On Sunday, morning walkers in Keesara saw a charred Maruti 800 car and on finding a body in the rear, alerted the police. The police, based on the car’s registration (AP 28 AL 4850, was registered in Uday Kumar’s name) thinks the person may be Uday and informed his family who went to Kushaiguda police station to lodge a missing complaint. Police suspect that after killing him, the gang drove the car to a lonely spot and burnt the car and the body.

“We are checking his call list and CCTV footage from ECIL to Keesara. We have also sent the femur for DNA typing to match with his father’s,” in-charge DCP E. Ramchandra Reddy said.

Though the family is clueless about the muder, police thinks that Uday’s involvement in arguing land cases might have led to the murder. Meanwhile his wife said that the chappal and the half burnt shirt at the spot were not Uday’s. After autopsy the body was handed over to Uday’s family. Police is investigating.
