Rajagopal Nagar police open fire at murder accused, arrest him
Bengaluru: The Rajagopal Nagar police have arrested a murder accused after opening fire at him after he assaulted a policeman in a bid to evade arrest in Peenya on Sunday morning. The accused has been identified as Kishore (28), an employee with a private company. This is the sixth arrest in the murder of 37-year-old Umesh who owned a kebab centre.
According to the police, Kishore had an affair with Umesh's wife Roopa (28). The affair started when Kishore was working as a school bus driver and the two met when she used to go to pick up and drop her two children.
One day Umesh found out about the affair and had warned both Roopa and Kishore many a times. Umesh and Roopa frequently fought over it and Kishore decided to put an end to it and hatched a plan along with his friends.
On May 12, Kishore and his friends Venkatesh (53), Raveesha (45), Jithendra (30), Sumanthraj (29) and Pradeepa (40), all of them in police custody now, brutally hacked Umesh to death after a heated argument about the same issue and fled the spot. The Rajagopal Nagar police who had taken up the case began investigation and arrested Venkatesh, Raveesha, Jithendra, Sumanthraj and Pradeepa. Based on the information provided by the accused, the cops formed a team and rushed to Peenya second stage where Kishore's movement was traced.
One of the constables who tried to take him into custody was attacked by Kishore with a lethal weapon. The police had to open fire at him to bring the situation under control. The police shifted the injured constable and Kishore to a hospital for treatment. The Rajagopalnagar police have registered a case.
