Hyderabad: 4-year-old killed, 11 injured in two accidents

In the first instance, a four-year-old boy died when the car in which he was travelling was hit by a speeding lorry at the ORR toll gate at Shamirpet.

Hyderabad: A four-year-old boy died and 11 others were injured in two separate road accidents in a span of 12 hours in the city. All the three incidents took place on the Outer Ring Road and involved heavy vehicles.

In the first instance, a four-year-old boy died when the car in which he was travelling was hit by a speeding lorry at the ORR toll gate at Shamirpet. Police said that the accident occurred at about 10.45 pm on Saturday night.

A family of three including four-year-old Loukith Reddy hailing from Muneerabad suffered injuries when the car in which they were going home was hit by a speeding lorry. They were rushed to the hospital but Loukith succumbed on the way.

Loukith’s father Madhav Reddy lodged a complaint with the Shamirpet police, who booked a case against the lorry driver and took him into the custody for the investigation. The body of Loukith was handed over to his parents after the autopsy at Gandhi Hospital mortuary.

In a mishap at Ravirala in Adibatla, an RTC bus which was returning to the city from Kongarakalan was hit by a truck on the ORR on Sunday morning. Eight passengers in the bus received minor injuries and were admitted to different hospitals for treatment, said Adibatla police. Their condition is stated to be stable. A case of rash and negligent driving was booked against the truck driver.
