Bengaluru: A 23-year-old woman was allegedly manhandled and assaulted by her ex-boyfriend and his family members in Ulsoor on Thursday morning. The accused, identified as Abidullah Shariff, 26, a resident of K.G. Halli, accosted the victim near Ulsoor metro station while she was returning home from work and demanded that she withdraw an earlier case that was registered against him at the KG Halli police station.
The victim has registered a case of rape and cheating against Abidullah a month ago after she was in a live-in relationship with the accused for several months. On Thursday around 6.30 am, when the victim, a resident of Srirampura and working at a private company in Indiranagar, was returning home after night shift, Abdidullah and his five other relatives, including women members, accosted her and demanded that she withdraw the case and marry Abidullah.
In the melee, she was manhandled, she told the police. She took first aid at the Bowring Hospital and then headed towards Ulsoor police station to lodge another complaint against Abidullah and her family members.
“I visited her at the hospital, and there were no evidence of any external injuries on her, but we have registered a case of assault and are investigating,” a senior police officer said.
