Hyderabad: A 30-year-old construction worker was killed in an accident at Budwel on Wednesday midnight. Police said that a speeding van hit the bike he was driving.
Police said, B. Gattaiah, 30, a resident of Chevella in Ranga Reddy district, came to a church in Budwel to attend prayers. After prayers ended at 11.30 pm, he was returning home on his bike when he was hit by a van.
“He was driving across a road when the van hit him,” Rajendranagar inspector V. Umender said. Gattaiah was thrown off the bike and suffered serious injuries on the head. Passersby saw him and rushed him to Gandhi Hospital. He succumbed in the wee hours of Thursday.
A case of causing death through negligence was registered and the body was handed over to his family after post-mortem. Police seized the vehicle and launched a hunt to trace the driver who fled from the spot. Gattaiah is survived by his wife and two kids.
