Hyderabad: Rowdy-sheeter held for rape
Hyderabad: A rowdy-sheeter, who allegedly seduced a 16-year-old girl promising marriage and raped her for three days, was arrested by Kalapathar police. The suspect Mirza Rahmath Ali Baig, 31, took the girl to his house and made her stay with him after convincing her that he would marry her. Police arrested the suspect following a complaint from her parents. Police said Baig is married and has four kids. “Baig had met the girl 15 days ago and became her friend. He promised that he would marry her. On April 14, the girl left her house. When her mother called her she said that she was at Himayathnagar with her friends and would return soon. But she did not return for three days,” said assistant commissioner of police K. Ashok Chakravarthy.
“Three days later her brothers and parents started a search and found her in Baig’s house. The suspect ran away when he saw the victim’s relatives coming,” said the ACP. The girl's parents alleged that Baig had confined her inside his house by promising to marry her. Later, police booked a rape case against Baig as the victim was a minor. Police also booked a case against him under The Protection of Children From Sexual Offences Act, 2012.
