Bengaluru: 10 security guards held for theft at advocate's house
BENGALURU: The North-East division police have arrested a gang of 10 Nepali security guards, including a couple, for committing a burglary in a house where the couple worked as guards. Stolen items worth Rs 25 lakh was been recovered from the gang.
The accused have been identified as Naresh Katayath, 24, his wife Monika, 20, Dhanbahaddur, 43, Dil Bahaddur, 36, Dommar Bahaddur Bharath Bora, 35. Prakasha Kumara, 25, Narendra Bahaddur Bohara, 39, Dil Bahaddur alias Dirga, 42, Mahesh Bahaddur Bohara, 25, and Ghorak Bahaddur, 40. All of them hailed from Nepal and were working as security guards at various places in the city.
According to the police, Naresh had joined as security guard in the house of High Court advocate Suresh M Latur in Amruthahalli police station limits. They were provided a room in the house and the couple was staying there. On April 20, when Latur’s family had gone out, Naresh hatched a plot to commit burglary and approached his friends, who joined hands with him.
“They burgled the house and escaped with gold jewels, silver articles and cash. The incident came to light when Mr. Latur’s family returned home and he immediately filed a police complaint. An investigation was launched soon and special teams were formed,” police said.
In order to prevent them from leaving the country, police teams were deputed at all railway stations in the city and teams were also sent to New Delhi and Andhra Pradesh. The police also gathered information about Naresh’s relatives, who were staying in various parts of the city, the police added.
Based on credible information, the accused were nabbed before they moved out of the city and recovered 600 grams of gold ornaments, 300 grams of silver articles and Rs 5.87 lakh in cash.
“It is revealed that the offenders used to commit offences in the City and transport gold and cash to Nepal. They had even purchased land and houses out of this money. After spending all the money, they used to come again to the city and commit similar offences,” the police added.
