Nellore: Nearly 20 persons took ill after consuming the prasadam served in a Rama temple on the occasion of Srirama Navami festival at Vinjamuru town in SPSR Nellore district late on Monday night. The prasadams include soaked moong dal (Green gram) and groundnut. The relatives of the victims rushed them to local private hospitals when they saw them feeling ill and vomiting or complaining about loose motions.
According to the villagers almost 20 people approached a private hospital run by Dr Masilamani with diarrhoea for treatment. Quoting Dr Masilamani locals said all the victims are out of danger and food poisoning was the reason for the diarrhoea. The prasadam was damaged allegedly because of high temperature and failure of the organisers to verify the quality before distributing.
