Departmental probe against Farook Training College professor

Mr. Balan said that the director of collegiate education would be directed to initiate the departmental inquiry.

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The government will order a departmental inquiry against Farook Training College assistant professor Jauhar Munavar for his controversial remarks regarding dressing of girl students, Law Minister A.K. Balan informed the Assembly on behalf of Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan on Monday. Replying to a submission of Muslim League MLA K.M. Shaji on the matter, Mr. Balan said that the director of collegiate education would be directed to initiate the departmental inquiry.

Mr. Balan also declined the demand of Mr. Shaji as well as Opposition leader Ramesh Chennithala to review the decision of the police to register a case against Mr. Munavar. "The Koduvally police registered the case after a student filed a complaint. Hence further actions would be based on the police investigation. The government can not make any suo motu interventions at this stage," Mr. Balan said.
