Bengaluru: Cop kills differently abled son, hangs self

The police suspect that the incident might have occurred on Saturday night after the two checked into a lodge in Chickpet.

Bengaluru: A 41-year-old head constable with the KSRP unit Mysuru committed suicide after killing his four-year-old differently abled son at a hotel room in Cottonpet police limits.

The deceased have been identified as Vishwanath M. and his son Samvith. The police suspect that the incident might have occurred on Saturday night after the two checked into a lodge in Chickpet. The hotel staffers found Vishwanath hanging and alerted the police. Vishwanath, who was from Gundlupet and attached to the KSRP 5th Battalion in Mysuru, had told the hotel staff that he was in Bengaluru to get his son treated.

The police said Vishwanath was upset with his son’s disability and was saddened by the taunts of schools when he sought admission for his son. In his suicide note, Vishwanath apologised to his family for taking the extreme step and stated that no one was responsible for his death.

He mentioned how it was unbearable for him to manage his son for a couple of days and wondered how his wife handled him for so many days. His friends and relatives had put out a plea on social networking sites trying to trace him.
