Chennai: Housewife robbed by gang led by woman
Sandhya's one-year-old son was held at knife-point by three men and a woman, who pretended to be a electricity board employees.

Chennai: Four persons including a woman, who posed as electricity board employee, allegedly threatened a woman by keeping her baby boy at knife-point and robbed 45 sovereigns of gold and 3.5 kg of silver from her house in Ponniammanmedu in Madhavaram on Saturday.
The incident happened around noon. Police noted that Sandhya Damodaran, 26, was at her house with her one and half -year-old son Litesh and her relative Nagabushanam, 65, when a woman knocked the door claiming to check the electricity board meter.
She told Sandhya that she was from TN Electri city Board office. When the ‘EB employee’ was acting like checking the EB meter, suddenly three men joined her and stormed into the house.
When the gang kept Litesh at knife point, Sandhya had no other option than giving away all her valuables. The incident happened when her husband was away at work.
Sandhya lodged a complaint with Madhavaram police station and police are trying to find out clues about the gang from CCTV footage in the neighbourhood. The four left in two wheelers, police said.
In another incident in Madhavaram, at least 90 sovereigns gold ornaments worth over Rs 20 lakh and cash Rs 1 lakh cash were reported missing from a house of a software professional on Sunday morning. The family, which went on a pilgrimage, returned on Sunday morning to see their house broken open.
Police said that complainant Anthony Pradeep Raj of KKR Garden in Madhavaram along with his father Suresh, an retired railway employee and mother Shanthi, a private school teacher, his wife and one-and-a half-year-old daughter had gone to Velankanni on Friday to attend a function and offer prayer to the church. They returned on Sunday and were shocked to see their house burgled.
