Koodathayi serial murder case suspect Jolly Joseph attempts suicide in jail

Jolly Joseph, prime suspect in the sensational Koodathayi serial murder case attempted to commit suicide at the Kozhikode district prison. She was taken to the hospital. The 47 year old suspect, who allegedly killed six persons, tried to kill herself by cutting her wrist using sharp knife-like object, according to PTI report.

“She was rushed to the hospital and her condition is stable. She has been admitted to Kozhikode Medical College Hospital. A surgery will have to be performed,” a police official said.

The police has launched an investigation into the incident and how Jolly got the weapon will be probed.

The woman arrested in October 2019 is under judicial remand and the special investigation team has filed six charge sheets in the six murder cases.

The charge is that Jolly killed six members of her family in Koodathayi in Kozhikode district by serving them poison laced food and drinks. The murders were carried out over a period of 14 years from 2002. The last murder was in 2016.

After the arrest of the woman, police said that she had plans to eliminate more people. Jolly could not execute the plans as she was arrested.
