Two men arrested under pocso act for abusing minor girls in separate incidents
Chennai: The city police have arrested two men under the Protection of Child from Sexual Offences (Pocso) Act on the charge of sexually abusing minor girls in two separate incidents.
According to police sources, Senthil, 37, a resident of Singaravelan Nagar in Kasimedu, Royapuram was close to victim's family Monday night, when the 14-year-old daughter of Ambika* (name changed) resident of Kasimedu was sleeping in the house, Senthil allegedly entered the house and sexually harassed the minor girl.
When the girl raised alarm, her parents and relatives assaulted him causing injuries. Later he was handed over to the Kasimedu police and was booked under Pocso Act.
Similarly, the Thiruvanmiyur police arrested a 44-year-old man for sexually harassing a minor girl in Besant Nagar on Monday night.
The arrested was identified as Selvam, a flower vendor and a resident of Panidamman Street in Besant Nagar. According to police, on Monday Night the accused found the 11-year-old girl playing near her house and took to a scheduled place under the pretext of getting her chocolates. He then allegedly molested her. Later on Monday night, the girl complained to her mother that the man did indecent things to her.
The mother after confronting the man on this matter registered a complaint at the Thiruvanmiyur police station. The police team arrested Selvam under Pocso Act and remanded him in judicial custody.
