Hyderabad: A criminal case has been filed against Dharma Colony, Kukatpally, resident T. Praveen for possessing an illegal water connection.

The Water Board said Mr Praveen claimed that he had a legal 15-mm connection under CAN No. 091543800. The vigilance department found that the number was registered in the name of one Satya Narayana H., and disconnected on December 12, 2017. When Mr Praveen failed to get documents to support his case, a case was filed against him under IPC Section 430 (wrongfully diverting water).

The Water Board stated that the main pipeline had been damaged and tampered with and water bills generated for a disconnected line. Board manager D.V. Trinadha Rao said, “The owner is liable for punishment for theft of water under IPC Section 379. He has been booked for damage to the pipeline. Ilegal connections are liable for prosecution.”
