Hyderabad: 4 arrested for duping job aspirants

Officials seized Rs 14.5 lakh and 70 fake appointment letters from them.

Hyderabad: A four-member gang was nabbed by west zone task force team for cheating job-seekers by promising them jobs in L&T Metro Rail. Officials seized Rs 14.5 lakh and 70 fake appointment letters from them.

The accused were identified as T. Anitha, 46, housewife from Chilukanagar in Uppal, G. Vijitha Reddy, 41, resident of Peerzadiguda in Uppal, P. Ravi Chandra, 43, owner of Asian Bright Careers Consultancy, and P. Amrutha alias Asha Latha, 33, co-owner of the firm.

Police said Anitha and Vijitha are friends who were for long cheating unemployed youth with the promise of providing them jobs as ticketing clerk, track engineer, integrated assistant manager, associate manager and others in Metro Rail.

“Vijitha Reddy, while working in the systems section of Megha Institution of Engineering College in Ghatkesar, came into contact with Ravi Chandra and his wife Amrutha as they were in the education field,” said commissioner task force DCP P. Radha Kishan Rao.

Vijitha told them that she and Anitha had good terms with Metro Rail officials and could arrange jobs for people there. She said she used to take Rs1.2 lakh from each candidate for a job.

“Ravi Chandra and Amrutha agreed to send candidates to Anitha and Vijitha for jobs. They even started collecting between Rs 50,000 and Rs 3.5 lakh from students for jobs. Anitha and Vijitha took half of the amount as their commission, the DCP said. Over time, the gang collected a total of Rs 1.27 crore from scores of unemployed youth,”the police said.
