Hyderabad: RBI employee's house burgled

CCTV footages showed a youth breaking open the main door and entering the house.

Hyderabad: The house of an RBI employee was burgled in Malkajgiri. The thieves fled with 12 tolas of gold and a kg silver worth around Rs 5 lakh. The incident happened while P. Venkata Gopikrishna was away.

CCTV footages showed a youth breaking open the main door and entering the house. Police said that Polisetty Venkata Gopikrishna, working as an assistant manager in RBI Hyderabad, was staying at Goutam Nagar.

Last Sunday, he and his wife Ragapriya went to a relative's house in Vanasthalipuram to attend a function. They returned in the early hours of Sunday and found the main door open.

Household items lay scattered and the almirah was open. Gold and silver kept in the almirah were missing. Police rushed to the spot, collected clues and launched an investigation.

After analysing CCTV cameras installed in the house opposite Mr Gopikrishna, police found an unidentified man breaking open the lock of the main door and entering the house. After around an hour he came out through the main entrance and fled towards the main road.

“12 tolas of gold jewellery and silver articles weighing 3 kg were stolen from the house. We are checking for other clues also,” Malkajgiri inspector P. Janaki Reddy said. A case of house breaking was registered.
