Bengaluru: PU student's rash driving claims 2 lives

BENGALURU: Reckless driving by a 19-year-old student claimed two lives after he rammed his car into a bike near Jakkur on Ballari Road on Thursday morning.

The deceased have been identified as Murugan, 48, a mason, and Venkatesh, 50, a tailor. Both were residents of Chamundeshwarinagar near R T Nagar. The police have arrested Irfan Ali Hussain, a second PU student at a private college in Hebbal and a resident of Jakkur.

According to the police, the accident happened around 10 pm, when the accused student was going to meet a friend. He was allegedly driving the car in a rash and negligent manner and hit the bike on which Murugan and Venkatesh were riding. Due to the impact, both fell down and the car ran over them, killing them on the spot.

“After the incident, Irfan tried to abandon the car and escape, but passersby nabbed him and handed him over to the police,” the Yalahanka traffic police, who have registered a case, added.
