Six Arrested for Hunting Spotted Deer in Mulugu

Warangal: Forest officials of the Bollepally South beat of Lingala section nabbed six persons and seized dried meat of spotted deer from them Thadvai mandal of Mulugu district on Tuesday. They were also carrying snares, traps, wires and nets used for poaching animals.

The government had directed zero tolerance for crimes against wildlife and forest officials were taking preventive and punitive measures to implement it. As part of this, forest officials had recently launched a state-wide ‘Catch the Trap’ drive under which all devices used for poaching and killing of wild animals were being seized.

When the officials were conducting search operations in the Thadvai forest region of Mulugu district, they noticed electricity wires put up to kill wild animals. On investigation, the officials identified six persons responsible and nabbed them.

The officials found they were carrying the meat of spotted deer which was being dried in the house of one of the accused persons.
